Role
Researcher
As someone who is passionate about inclusive design, I chose to focus my Human-Computer Interaction MSc dissertation on disabled accessibility within Location Based Games (LBGs). The aim of this project was to create design mock-ups that illustrate potential ways of making LBGs more accessible for disabled users.
This research consisted of 2 studies:
Study 1: Due to a lack of research on disabled users of LBGs, I conducted a qualitative questionnaire that identified the needs of disabled users of LBGs.
Study 2: I ran co-design workshops that allowed disabled LBG users and myself to work together to identify ways of making LBGs both more inclusive and fun.
As a result of these 2 studies, I developed design mock-ups that represent the key findings from this research.
For my hard work and dedication, my project received a mark of 81% (an outstanding distinction). As such, I am currently working with my two supervisors, Aneesha Singh and Giulia Barbareschi, with the aim of publishing this research through the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI).
